Hello, I'm Madelyn

"Photography is an art of observation. It has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them." -Elliot Erwitt

I’m a female photographer based in Denver, Colorado and I’ve been exploring portraiture for the past 15 years. I started my path shooting for the largest boudoir agency in the country, traveling coast to coast, (20 cities & counting!) while photographing hundreds of people in all of their captivating complexities.

After many years on the agency tour, I decided to slow down and focus my work out of my independent studio. This space has been an open invitation for expression and allowed me to take a more intentional approach to curating my own style.

I didn’t want the gaze of my lens to be so fictitiously glamorous, or even necessarily erotic. I’m drawn to the unfiltered language of the body—how desire, power, and vulnerability take shape in light and dark. I want my portraits to be raw, magnetic, and deeply felt.

I’ve always been drawn to creating with my hands and artistic practice is incredibly important to me.

Photography is just one part of my self-expression. I’m curious about all kinds of mediums and I like to make time for experimentation.

My latest obsession is block printing, but sewing was my first love. The precision of a needle through fabric, the slow carving of a pattern into a block—I’m drawn to something in the tension between disruption and flow.

Otherwise from work and play, I like spending time with an iced coffee and a good book. You can often find me near my cat who appreciates a quiet moment of sunlight as much as I do.
